Chandrika Devi Mandir Kathwara Lucknow: Sacred Shakti Peeth on the Gomti Banks

The Radiant Shakti Shrine of Awadh: Chandrika Devi

Nestled in serene rural woodlands along the meandering Gomti River in Kathwara, Chandrika Devi Mandir is one of the most powerful and visited pilgrimage shrines in northern Uttar Pradesh. Dedicated to Goddess Chandi (an incarnation of Maa Durga), the temple is associated with legends spanning both the Ramayana and Mahabharata eras.

The Sacred Sudhanva Kund & Navratri Mela

Adjacent to the temple sanctorum lies the emerald-green Sudhanva Kund, featuring a colossal 50-foot statue of Lord Shiva in the center. During Chaitra and Sharad Navratri, over half a million devotees gather here for the grand nine-day religious fair, filling the air with devotional hymns and fragrant camphor offerings.
